Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Friday's Observations features an Almanzor (Fr) 'TDN Rising Star'.
15.25 Chantilly, Cond, €28,000, 3yo, f, 10fT
ELZORA (FR) (Almanzor {Fr}) earned TDN Rising Star status for Riviera Equine and Eric de Chambure and the Jean-Claude Rouget stable with a stirring display at ParisLongchamp last month and preps for a possible tilt at the G1 Prix de Diane in this intriguing affair. A full-sister to last year's G1 Prix Saint-Alary third Queen Trezy (Fr), the May-foaled bay encounters four well-regarded fillies including Juddmonte's Andre Fabre-trained Ottery (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), who disappointed when only fifth as the 6-4 favourite for last month's G3 Prix Cleopatre.
16.20 Newbury, Mdn, £12,000, 3yo, 10fT
SEENDID (IRE) (Dubawi {Ire}) is one of a few interesting bluebloods in this, being a full-brother to the G1 Pretty Polly S. heroine Nezwaah (GB), William Haggas saddles Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's homebred alongside Shadwell's Naqeeb (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}), the half-brother to Baaeed (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) who shaped more in the mold of that luminary's G1 Coronation Cup-winning full-sibling Hukum (Ire) when third on debut at Leicester last month.
16.40 Leopardstown, Mdn, €16,000, 2yo, 7f 69yT
GASPARE GABRIELLI (IRE) (No Nay Never) debuts for Ballydoyle in the maiden won 12 months ago by the much-vaunted Alfred Munnings (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) and in which the stable introduced Gleneagles (Ire). A half-brother to the G1 Prix de Diane and G1 Nassau S. heroine Fancy Blue (Ire) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) from the family of High Chaparral (Ire), the April-foaled bay is joined by stablemate Latin (Ire) (No Nay Never), a relative of Harzand (Ire).
